The long-rumoured trade sending Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets has finally been agreed.

The Green Bay Packers have agreed a deal to send quarterback Aaron Rodgers and their 2023 first-round and fifth-round picks to the Jets in exchange for New York's 2023 first-round, second-round, and sixth-round picks.

The deal will include a conditional 2024 second-round pick that becomes a first if Rodgers plays 65% of the plays this season.

Big picture for the Jets

Rodgers is being brought in to solve the Jets' long-running quarterback issues and attempt to make the most of their solid defence and make an immediate playoff push.

With this move, 39-year-old Rodgers ends an 18-year stay in Green Bay that spanned 10 Pro Bowl appearances and the 2011 Lombardi Trophy.

Jets General Manager Brian Gutekunst told a news conference he expected the deal to be done before the NFL Draft begins on Thursday.

"Obviously Aaron's up there in age," said Gutekunst.

"I think he's got some really good football left in him...As we got through the offseason and started talking about where we wanted to go, this made a little bit of sense for us."

The Jets hope that Rodgers, with his experience and past success, can galvanize an offense that has been dreadful in recent seasons.
