The 2024 Paris Olympics' Day 10 features 17 gold medals and a key women's 5000m final for Kenyan athletes.
Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet, and Margaret Chelimo will have the opportunity to make history as they compete in the women's 5000m final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on August 5th.
The trio advanced through the heats on Friday, with Kipyegon and Chelimo participating in round one, while Chebet qualified in the second round.
Their participation in the final marks a significant moment for Kenyan athletics, as they aim to build on their country's legacy in distance running.
In addition to the women's 5000m final, Kenya's elite 3000m steeplechase athletes—Simon Koech, Amos Serem, and Abraham Kibiwott—will be in action, seeking redemption for their compatriots in the 10,000m who missed out on medals earlier in the week.
Historically, Kenya has dominated the 3000m steeplechase, having won gold at every Olympics since 1968, except for the Tokyo Games, where Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali took the top spot.
Athletics fans across the globe will be watching as these athletes strive for glory in what promises to be an exciting day of competition.
