The winger was having his exams and also raising Kenya’s flag high at the ongoing World Rugby U20 Trophy happening at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The national rugby Under 20 side, Chipu, winger Victor Odhiambo has caught the attention of fans due to his dedication to the sport and at the same time, working hard in school.

The winger was set to sit for his exams and also raise Kenya’s flag high at the ongoing World Rugby U20 Trophy happening at the Nyayo National Stadium, something that has warmed the hearts of Kenyans.

During Chipu’s match against Hong Kong, the Bachelor of Business Information Technology student at Strathmore University was just from doing an exam and he managed to shine in the game.

Their team effort saw Chipu win 22-16 and Odhiambo was among the players who contributed to the victory.

Other than turning out for Chipu, Odhiambo is also part of the Strathmore Leos squad with his exploits seeing him emerge as the top try scorer of the National Sevens Circuit after two rounds.

When reached out to for comment, Strathmore Leos coach Lious Kisia noted that Odhiambo is a hardworking young man who has a passion for the sport and is also driven by education.

He revealed that on Chipu's matchday against Hong Kong, Odhiambo had an exam at 9:00 a.m. and he made sure that he finished his exam in good time so as not to miss the game as he was among the starting players.

"From around the last week of July to the second week of August is always exam week at Strathmore. His faculty is one of the departments that have exams now and luckily his timetable is flexible.

However, unfortunately, for the Hong Kong game, he had an exam from 9:00 a.m. and he had sought permission from the technical team and they granted him permission. He was named as a starter but he still went to do his exams.

He is a hardworking young man...I've seen him grow and he is definitely going places. He loves the sport and trains a lot...he is also very keen to detail. It's something good for him," Kisia said.

In a post on her Twitter handle, Michelle Katami said: “Chipu winger Victor Odhiambo sat for exams jana morning before joining team Kenya for Hong Kong game. Victor is studying for a Bachelor of Business IT at Strathmore University.

"He plays for Strathmore Leos and is the National 7s Circuit top try scorer after two rounds.”
