The tournament has been smooth sailing for the top seeds, with the only upset coming from No.80 seed Dalma Galfi over Danielle Collins.

In her first match since the Australian Open, Raducanu cruised past Kovinic in straight sets of 6-2, 6-3 and will now face No. 20 seed Linette in the second round.
Consequently, in a battle of former Grand Slam champions, Kenin overcame Sloane Stephens 6-4, 6-1, and Dalma Galfi got a major win over Danielle Collins 6-4, 6-4 for a second round spot.
Katerina Siniakova defeated Niemeier 7-5, 6-4 to set up a second round clash with Haddad Maia, while Marketa Vondrousova crushed Marino 6-2, 6-2, going eight wins to four loses in 2023.
Karolina Muchova held off Putintseva 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, setting up a blockbuster second-round match with Victoria Azarenka.
Madison Brengle survived a 0-4 first-set deficit to defeat Siegemund 7-6(5) 6-4, while Peyton Stearns delivered a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 comeback over Rebeka Masarova, facing Andreescu in the second round.
