The rally driver has been under investigation by the DCI detectives for past two months.
Rally Diver Maxine Wahome who is accused of killing her boyfriend Asad Khan is mentally fit to stand trial.
A judge had ordered Wahome to be taken for a mental assessment performed on Tuesday at the government-owned Mathari Mental Hospital.
A medical report from the hospital showed that Wahome has no personal or family history of mental illness or other disorders.
“ Doctors at the mental facility examined her as directed by High Court judge Lilian Mutende on March 7 and certified her fit to stand trial,” Nation reported.
Wahome was escorted to the facility by DCI Kilimani and is now ready to be called upon to plead to the murder charge leveled against her on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old has been detained at the DCI offices for the last seven days to allow police to complete the investigations.
On Monday, the Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi ordered the police to close the investigation file.
Wahome first appeared in court in December 2022 after being arrested over the death of her boyfriend and fellow rally driver Assad Khan.
She was released on bail by Milimani Law Court, which also directed that the celebrated driver report to the Investigating Officer weekly.
However, the Sh100,000 cash bail was canceled on 7th March but she has now filed at the High Court an application for another bond saying she is not a flight risk.
Khan , who was also a rally driver, died on December 18, 2022 after a domestic squabble.
Wahome started her career at autocross events before joining the rallies.
She participated in the 2022 WRC Safari Rally and created history by becoming the first Kenyan female to win a WRC support championship round. Her first major title was the inaugural Lioness All-Women’s Rally in March 2022.
