Iga Swiatek matched on to the quarterfinals of the Roland Garros, but here are the 3 incredible feats she attained in the Round of 16.
World No.1 female tennis player Iga Swiatek is on course to defend her Roland Garros title after reaching the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournament.
Swiatek advanced after Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko withdrew in their Round of 16 match due to sustaining an injury in the first set at 5-1 to Swiatek's advantage.
The Pole will now face US teen sensation Coco Gauff in a would-be repeat of the final last year which Swiatek gallantly won.
As tennis lovers anticipate the mouthwatering clash in the quarterfinals, here are three incredible feats attained (according to Opta Ace) by Swiatek in her Round of 16 match with Tsurenko.
1 - Quarterfinals queen
She is the first female player to make 4+ quarterfinals at the Roland Garros in her first five main draw appearances since Monica Seles (5/5 in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1996).
2 - Sixty career clay-court wins and counting
In the last 50 years, only Monica Seles (63) and Chris Evert (66) have played fewer matches on clay court than Iga Swiatek (69) to reach 60 wins on this surface.
3 - Second-highest winning ratio at Roland Garros
Swiatek has a winning ratio of 92.6% - Only Margaret Court (95.2%) has a higher winning ratio at Roland-Garros in the Open Era, surpassing Chris Evert's (92.3%).
