A stiff competition is also expected in the men section where most of the golfers from both Muthaiga and Karen are drawn in the stableford event.
A strong field of 290 golfers are set to tee off at the Par 73 Ruiru Sports Club this weekend to battle it out for the Chairman’s Prize title.
The golfers, who have registered for the tournament, have been drawn from Ruiru and other clubs, including Thika Sports Club, Muthaiga, Karen, among others, in celebration of Chairman Dominic Chege Ndungu, who will be serving his second year in the position.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Ndungu thanked club members and other stakeholders for giving him an opportunity to serve them for a second term.
“It has been an exciting journey that can only be culminated with such a tournament, we are privileged to host such a great field of golfers from across the country.
As I begin my second year serving this great club. I am grateful to the club members for once again entrusting me with this great honor of serving this club,” he said.

GOLF Kenyan junior golfers step up preparations for All-Africa Junior Team Golf Championship
The continental event is set for April 15-21 in Kampala, Uganda.
Ahead of the tournament which begins on Saturday morning, Ndungu has expressed delight at the event sponsored by KCB.

A Pro-Am event preceded the tournament on Thursday 30th March, attracting over 30 professional golfers, including Samuel Njoroge, CJ Wangai, and David Wakhu.

GOLF All is set for first leg of the 2023 Interschool Golf Tournament
The tournament is organized by the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) in partnership with NCBA Bank.
In the 2021 event, Anthony Kimani beat a large field of 247 golfers to emerge the overall winner of the Chairman’s prize.
Isaac Githinji playing off handicap 10 emerged victorious in the men’s category A while Ciira Kiiyukia playing off handicap 14 won the men’s category B.
