On January 24, Solomon officially surpassed the previous record set by Rasel Islam of Bangladesh.

Rasel Islam of Bangladesh had set a record of 145 skips on one foot in 30 seconds.

However, Philip Solomon has now eclipsed that record and After four months, his attempt was officially ratified by Guinness World Records.

The organisation said they confirmed the records after reviewing the video.

'I cannot abandon Skipping for any other sports'

During an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports Nigeria, Solomon told Hassan Abdulsalam that he couldn't abandon skipping for any other sports.

He said, "I don't think there is a sports that I can abandon Skipping for but I do play baseball sometimes."

Solomon Skipping Journey

The Young skipper revealed that his skipping career only started two years ago.

"It all started in 2021 when we were in School, normally we do train as a skipper but the there was a day that our Sports master came and informed us that this skipping we are doing that why don't we take it to the stadium and he linked us with our current coach. Since then I have been training."

However, Philip Solomon said combining Education and training has not been an easy task for him but he gets adequate support from family and friends.

"Combining school and training together is not easy but since there is a saying that Education makes you super while Sports makes you a star, combining both makes you a SuperStar.

"It was my Daddy that even handed me over to my coach after discovering that I have great interest in Skipping and which made my parents understand and support me," he said.

Promises not kept

After Guinness World Record certified Solomon on his records, several promises were made but non of them have been kept.

"There are promises yet and they are saying they are expecting the certificate and nothing from them yet."

Inspiration behind breaking Guinness World Record

The Akure-born youngster said he was inspired by his teammate to break records.

He said, "When Gbenga Ezekiel broke his own record, he is my team mate and training partner and met with my coach that I would like to do mine as well."
