300 riders tackled Kibo's thrilling "Ride Like a Champ" challenge, showcasing bike robustness and rider expertise from Nairobi to Naivasha.

The picturesque route from Nairobi to Naivasha became the backdrop for a roaring spectacle over the weekend as 300 Kibo motorbike riders thundered across 90 kilometers in a stunning six-hour challenge.

Kibo's third "Ride Like a Champ" challenge, with this year's theme, "The Challenge is On," emerged as the grandest corporate ride event Kenya has witnessed to date.

The event, which was a pronounced success, took participants on a thrilling, mostly off-road adventure, beginning from the Carnivore Grounds in Lang'ata, Nairobi, and reaching its grand finale at the scenic Sawela Lodge in Naivasha.

Riders from varying levels of expertise battled diverse terrains, showcasing not just the robustness of their Kibo bikes, but also their own refined riding skills and their adherence to road safety protocols.

Huib van de Grijspaarde, the visionary CEO of KIBO Africa, could not hide his excitement at the challenge's end in Naivasha.

“We are thrilled to have had such a great turnout for this year’s event. It speaks volumes about the growing interest amongst riders to be part of this exhilarating challenge,” he said.

“Through our consistent efforts, we aim to underscore the idea that motorbike riding can be thrilling, fun, and, most importantly, safe. Our vision sees this event expanding, drawing an even larger pool of motorbike enthusiasts in the coming years."

Riders had the opportunity to field-test Kibo bikes across three categories: the 150 cc, 160 cc, and 250 cc.

Furthermore, as part of Kibo's commitment to safety and innovation, the latest event spotlighted the brand's advanced safety features on their 2nd and 3rd Generation motorbikes.

State-of-the-art braking systems, futuristic LED displays, lighting, and highly efficient engines were some of the marquee features on display.

Currently boasting an annual production capacity of 10,000 bikes, Kibo Africa has bold plans to quintuple that number to 50,000 bikes per annum within the next three years.

Beyond mere production, the company is pushing the envelope in localization. They have already managed to transfer the technology for manufacturing 38 bike components locally in Kenya.

In line with this aspiration, Kibo is laying the groundwork for further collaborations. By the first quarter of 2024, the company aims to partner with local manufacturers, thereby transferring the production of pivotal components like mufflers and exhausts.
