Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, and Maria Sakkari moved on to the round of 32 at the ongoing Australian Open.

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek wasted no time in beating Camila Osorio Serrano 6-2 6-3 to reach the third round in Melbourne.

The Polish star won 62% of her first-serve points and 65% points on return on the Colombian’s first serve. She had 19 winners and 16 unforced errors, to her opponent’s 16 winners and 14 unforced errors. Swiatek also converted six of eight break points while saving two of the five break points she faced.

In the first set, the top seed built a quick 4-0 lead for herself courtesy of a double break. Osorio’s serve let her down at that moment, as she was unable to consolidate on the break back.

Swiatek began the second set as she’d done the first – with a couple of service breaks to go up 5-1. Just like it happened in the opening set, she lost her serve while trying to serve for the match at 5-2.

However, while serving for the second time, she made no mistakes and secured the win on the first of two match points she had.

Petra Kvitova shown exit door in a huge upset by Kalinina

A huge, very unexpected win for Anhelina Kalinina, over 15th seed Petra Kvitova to reach the third round.

Kalinina defeated the 2019 Australian Open finalist 7-5 6-4 after almost two hours of play.

Meanwhile, third-seeded Jessica Pegula made it through to the round-of-32, scoring 6-2 7-6(5) win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

The lower-ranked player upped her game in the second set but Pegula withstood her challenges to claim a hard-fought win in a tie-break.

Also, sixth seed, Maria Sakkari faced quite a scare, but came from a set down to beat her teenage opponent Diana Shnaider 3-6 7-5 6-3 and progress to the third round.
