He added that it was a great decision to bring back the Safari Rally and he noted that it unites people in a unique way.

H.E. President William Ruto has expressed his excitement about the economic boost the WRC Safari Rally brings to the country.

President Ruto revealed that the event is not only an entertainment event but also an event that will help the country grow financially as he estimated that Kenya can gain about Ksh60 billion.

"I am very happy that out of this event, we are going to put together, economically, about Ksh 60 billion. This event is a huge economic event...it's not just about people enjoying themselves. It's about money, business, and entrepreneurship," President Ruto said, as quoted by Capital Sport.

He added that it was a great decision to bring back the Safari Rally and he noted that it unites people in a unique way.

“This is not just about the machine...not about the drivers but is a whole Kenyan, East African, global affair. We are all happy and it'd be quite a carnival," he added.

He cleared the air on the lack of jobs for the youth in Naivasha and noted that they have been counted in and will be able to get something for themselves.

“When I was in Naivasha last week, the young people of Naivasha were saying 'Look, we must be the ones working in the Safari Rally '.

I called Sports CS Ababu Namwamba and told him I have instructions from the hustlers in Naivasha. I am happy that they have been brought on board,” he said.

He added that they have invested around Ksh 1.3 billion into the hospitality sector and he lauded the organisers for contextualizing the rally under climate change greening the environment.

"Already the government is putting in Ksh 1.5 billion into this rally because that amount is a fraction of the economic activity that will be happening here and the amount of money that will be in circulation here," he added.

He added that the hustler’s bazaar is part of the ecosystem where people will be selling their products.

“It is a whole ecosystem of positive things. I have just seen people carrying flags from Uganda. I urge many Kenyans to come here with their Kenyan flags as well. I am yet to see a Kenyan flag around here and I'm telling my fellow countrymen and women this is the moment to be patriotic.

This is the moment to celebrate together as a nation. This event, like all sports, brings us together as people of one nation. We have a great country and we need to celebrate the greatness of Kenya.

We are a great sporting nation. We stand out globally. We have champions across the globe. As they're celebrated globally, we must also celebrate them here at home," he said.
