The Kabras Sugar winger has explained how the sugar millers' no-nonsense training routines have made them unstoppable in the local rugby scene.
Kabras Sugar winger Derrick Ashihundu has explained why the sugar millers have been a force to be reckoned with in Kenyan rugby in recent years.
Kabras look on course to secure their third consecutive Kenya Cup victory this season after gaining maximum points from all the matches they have played this season.
Ashihundu, who returned from a nasty leg break during last season’s National Sevens Circuit to become the current top try scorer in the ongoing season, has now explained the reason why Kabras have looked unstoppable.

RUGBY How Kabras Sugar's Ashihundu managed to overcome three surgeries following horrific leg break
Ashihundu is currently the reigning top try scorer in the 2023/2024 Kenya Cup season after missing the whole of last season through a horrific leg break.
“It is nothing else but hard work in training that makes this team unstoppable,” Ashihundu told Pulse Sports.
“In the forest, training is no joke. A person from Nairobi asks to go back after one training session in Kakamega. There is no joke there!”
Ashiundu has also credited the tactical nous of the technical bench led by Carlos Katywa for their success, giving their 50-21 win over Kenya Harlequins as a good example.
“We also have structures that allow us to exploit teams differently. If plan A does not work, plan B will and so on," he added.

RUGBY Shujaa to face Tonga, Portugal in Pool A of Uruguay Challenger in March
Shujaa were seeded first after winning the opening leg in Dubai and have now known their Pool A opponents for the second tournament in Montevideo, Uruguay in March.
“Like for instance, Quins, we expected them to give us a run for our money. They were at home and we knew they had an advantage which is why they led at the break.
“Since the season started, we also have not faced a team that played in our faces like them, so they tested us but the fact that the coach changed tactics at the break allowed us to demolish them.”
Ashihundu has revealed the team’s target, as well as his own individual objectives for the rest of the season.

GOLF Former Shujaa captain Humphrey Kayange Shines at 7th Alumni Golf Challenge in Limuru
Kayange claimed victory in the men’s category with 43 points, representing St. Peters’ Mumias.
“I think as a team, we have to take it a game at a time. We have to get as many points as possible. Always, we try to ensure that we have a home final so you have to have maximum points," he said.
“I just want to enjoy myself. If I finish as top try scorer, well and good. I just want to have fun and walk away with the trophy in the end.”
