Bolu Fagborun appointed as Nigeria's Rugby Women’s head coach

Fagborun first test as coach will be against Kenya on September 19 in Nairobi in the World Series qualifiers.

The Nigeria Rugby League has made a strategic move by appointing Bolu Fagborun as the head coach for the women’s national team.

Fagborun, who previously led the men’s team to victory in the MEA Championship 2024, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

The appointment comes as the women's team prepares for the World Cup qualifiers against Kenya. A win in this series will secure Nigeria a spot in the World Series next year.

"We are thrilled to have Bolu Fagborun take on the role of head coach for our women’s national team," said Ade Adebisi, vice chairman of the Nigeria Rugby League.

"His exceptional coaching abilities and previous successes with the men’s team make him the ideal choice to lead our women as they strive to qualify for the World Cup."
