Kenya Harlequin lock confident in unbeatable form after six-week Kasarani camp preparation.

Kenya national U20 team captain Laban Kipsag has pledged that his teammates will take part in the upcoming World U20 Trophy set to take place at the Nyayo National Stadium from July 15 by “playing with all their hearts” and “with alot of pride”.

The Chipu captain, who led the team to the final of the Barthes U20 Trophy in April where they fell short to Zimbabwe, hopes to help the team achieve better than the fourth place the team achieved when the tournament was last hosted in Kenya in 2009.

“The training has been good. We are looking forward to perform at our level best of course through God who will strengthen us and hopefully take the trophy home,” Kipsang said.

“This tournament means alot for me. It is not easy to bear the expectation of the 55 million Kenyans who will be looking upon us to take them to victory but I will play with all my heart and with a lot of pride for the country.

“We are looking to play as a team, win the tournament and enjoy this moment because this year will not be like this.”

The Kenya Harlequin lock has also revealed what the team has been working on during the six week camp in Kasarani and has expressed confidence it will make them unbeatable against all the sides they face..

“We have been working on our defense and contact skills and I trust that our defence will defend any team any well and I am optimistic that we will emerge winners.”

Kipsang is largely experienced at this level, having been part of the team that won the Barthes Cup in 2021.

Chipu are in Pool B with Hong Kong China, Samoa and Spain for the tournament returns to Kenya for the first time since 2009.
