The legendary former Shujaa player has revealed the differences between being a player and being a coach, while also making his preference known.

Kenya Sevens legend and current Mwamba 7s assistant coach Collins Injera has discussed the differences between being a player and coach, having commenced his new role in April this year.

Injera, who has recently been in temporary charge of the Mwamba 7s side was also appointed the 15's side attack and defence coach in a technical bench rejig back in April.

“I am enjoying it but sometimes it is getting frustrating,” Injera told Pulse Sports. “ Reason being, you have been a player, you have been there and you have seen what needs to be done,“ he added.

“When things are no longer that way, you get frustrated sometimes. It has a lot of pressure by the way but I am enjoying it.”

The 37-year-old has also revealed the challenge of being a coach, a role he is still finding the grips of.

“Biggest change has been the number of training sessions (one now has to be involved in). For me, the biggest thing is learning how to integrate the team because it has different aspects.

“There are things that you probably would not see as a player, but once you come to the coaching side is when you realise and see those things that are happening.

“It is a step everyday, I keep learning. I am lucky I came into the set up when the now-Kenya Sevens head coach is in the set up so, of course you pick a little things from him, I interact with many coaches out here.

“For me, it is still a learning process which I am embracing and loving.”

Injera led Mwamba to the quarter-finals of all the legs of the ongoing National Sevens Circuit and will be hoping to break that duck by leading the side beyond that stage at the Tisap 7s in Eldoret.
