KCB RFC started the 2023 SportPesa Sevens Circuit with a bang as they brushed aside Kabras Sugar 17-5 to win the Dala 7s title at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday.
Tries by Kenyan internationals Edmund Anya, Vincent Onyala, and Jacob Ojee were enough to see the side secure victory over Kabras.

RUGBY Onyala hopeful of Shujaa's 2024 Olympics qualification despite relegation from World Series
Shujaa were relegated from the 2022/23 World Sevens Series but the vice-captain is optimistic the side can bounce back.
It is the fifth time the Bankers have lifted the title in Kisumu, building on the success from 2004,2006, 2014 and 2019. In doing so, they took home Ksh100,000.
In the run up to the main cup final, KCB beat Strathmore Leos 31-0 in the semi-finals, while Kabras overcame Kenya Harlequin 15-14 in a tightly contested affair.
The Sugar Millers scored a try in the dying minutes of the second half, completing a comeback from 14-5 down, with Shujaa sensation Kevin Wekesa winning the Man of the Match award after a stellar performance which included scoring a last-minute try.

RUGBY National Sevens Circuit draw and points system explained
Explaining how points will be awarded every leg of the 2023 SportPesa National 7s circuit.
Leos finished third after beating Quins 26-19 in the third place playoff.
In the 13th place playoff, Western Bulls thumped Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) 19-12.
In the Challenge Trophy final, Nondescripts beat hosts Kisumu RFC 12-10 while Mwamba finished fifth after a 10-5 win over Menengai Oilers.
Amon Wamalwa was named the leg’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), proving that Harlequins' value for money was well represented, having signed for the club from Homeboyz RFC.
Strathmore Leos’ Brunson Madigu finished the leg as the top try scorer, continuing his run of scoring tries for fun from last season while Nondies’ Tony Fidens finished as the top point scorer.
The circuit will now head to Mombasa for the Driftwood Sevens on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July while the third round, the Prinsloo Sevens will be staged in Nakuru on August 5 and 6 due to a break for the World Under 20 Trophy.
