The Kenya Sevens star has revealed why KCB have been unstoppable so far this season

KCB’s Festus Shiasi has revealed the secret ingredient that has made the side practically unstoppable as they seek to end their thirst for a first Kenya Cup title in over three years.

Shiasi came off the bench to land KCB’s sixth try during their 45-15 demolition of Kenya Harlequin at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka on Saturday.

His try was one of a kind, as he nonchalantly tore through the Harlequin’s defence with a brilliant carry from the 10 meter line all the way past the goalline.

Shiasi has revealed how it felt to have made an immediate impact considering he has been getting rested due to his Kenya Sevens commitments.

“It was a great moment, I had just gotten into the game, the first touch  I had after just coming on and it was a brilliant moment,”  Siashi said.

The former Strathmore Leos center  has revealed KCB’s formula to becoming an unbeatable team this season.

“We train together and we do everything together to strengthen our brotherhood. It is all about team bonding off the pitch as well, which plays a part in us winning this team.”

Having become a crucial part of Shujaa under the stewardship of new head coach Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua, Shiasi has been training with both his club KCB and the national team, something that naturally demands alot from him.

The level of quality in the KCB squad is so high, they have still been obliterating teams without the need to call upon their national team based players all the time, including Shiasi, captain Vincent Onyala and scrum half Samuel Asati.

Shiasi has admitted the level of hard work it takes to remain in contention for both teams as a natural result due to the level of competition.

“It needs hard work because you have to work there and also train here and it is also hard because at home here, we have better players, so it's a competition both at club and national team level.”

Nicknamed 'Smadi', Shiasi is one of the most promising KCB Rugby’s players. Prior to his call-up to the den, he had stints with Mean Machine and Nairobi School where his career began.
