RUGBY 7s Pirates, a step closer to winning the 2023 Nile Special National Rugby Sevens
Stanbic Black Pirates go into the Nile Special Kyabazinga 7s leading the pack with 112 points ahead of Heathens and Kobs
However, Heathens, who were pipped by Jinja Hippos last year, have not lifted the country’s second-most prized rugby trophy for over a decade.
The last time they won it was in 2013, when they completed a hat trick after scooping three years in a row.
Since then, Kobs has won five times as Pirates, Buffaloes, and Hippos grabbed their maiden titles in 2014, 2018 and 2022, respectively.
In Jinja, Heathens will hope against all odds for the Pirates to be stopped before the semifinals as they put their stakes to go all the way and win the leg for a chance at the overall trophy.
