Chipu are looking to reclaim the title they last won in 2021.
The men's national rugby Under 20 head coach, Curtis Olago has called up four players who were part of the squad for last year’s edition of the Rugby Africa U20 Bathes trophy which will take place at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi from 22-30 April 2023.
Olago will be hoping the experience of Mwamba’s Felix Chacha, Dave Mwangi, and Laban Kipsang of Kenya Harlequin as well as Strathmore Leos’ Stanslous Shikoli will be enough to give them a better chance of winning it this time, after finishing third in 2022.

Kipsang will captain the squad while William Otondi who plays for Binghamton University in the USA has been named in the 28-man squad and will link up with the team on Saturday 15 April.
Speaking at the team’s training base at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, Nairobi, Olago said that the team, which won the 2019 and 2021 editions, has enough quality within it to deliver a third trophy in five years.
“It is a group composed of very good players who have worked hard so far,” he said, “ We only have a few areas to polish and we will be ready for our rivals,” he added.
"We know the challenge posed by Namibia and Zimbabwe who have been training since last year but our work is to be creative around our situation and come up with the best winning formula."
