Kenya Sevens coach Kevin Wambua has retained the same squad that has recorded impressive performances during his tenure for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kenya Sevens coach Kevin Wambua has named an unchanged squad for the Paris Olympics as they bid for a fruitful outing.
The Shujaa squad is composed of the same players who secured Olympics qualification before they went ahead to clinch a place back in the World Sevens Series.
Seeking to benefit from the familiarity and harmony, Wambua has resisted the temptation to tinker with the team for the crucial Olympics assignment where they are in Pool B with Samoa, Australia and Argentina.

Kenya Sevens co-captain Tony Omondi has shared how he bounced back from the disappointment of missing the Tokyo Olympics to help Shujaa earn a berth at the Paris 2024 Games.
Vincent Onyala and Tony Omondi are still the co-captains with John Okoth, Kevin Wekesa, George Ooro, Samuel Asati, Nigel Amaitsa, Brian Tanga, Patrick Odongo, Lamech Ambetsa, Chrisant Ojwang and Herman Humwa making the team.
Festus Shiasi and Dennis Abukuse are the travelling reserves while Brian Mutugi is the training reserve. Mutugi will join the squad for their training camp in Miramas, France but will return home when the team travels to the Olympics Village.
Shujaa’s technical bench is led by Wambua with Andrew Amonde as the conditioning coach, Lamech Bogonko (Physio) and team manager Steven Sewe.

Kenya Sevens players receive major cash reward following World Series return
Shujaa stars will be smiling to the bank after the Sports Ministry rewarded their promotion back to the World Sevens Series with handsome cash prizes.
“The team has been in camp, and we are pleased with how well we have gelled together. Each player has shown dedication and commitment, both on and off the field. We are ready to give our very best at the Olympics,” Wambua said, as per KRU Media.
“Our preparation has been intense, focusing on refining our skills and strategies. We are determined to represent Kenya with pride and aim to make a significant impact in Paris. With the support of our fans and the nation behind us, we are confident in our abilities and look forward to competing at the highest level.”
The team will travel to Miramas for their pre-Olympics camp to fine tune and acclimatise before the games.
