Shujaa must now beat Samoa in their final match of Pool B to stand a chance of making the quater finals on Thursday to keep their Olympic dream alive

Kenya fought hard but fell short in their second match of Pool B at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic games taking place at the Saint-Dennis Stadium in France on Wednesday.

Although Australia drew first blood with a well converted try, Tony Omondy would equalise for the Kenyans with a well-converted try to make it 7-7 for most of the first half.

However, a lapse in concentration saw the Kenyans concede another converted try to make it 14-7 heading into the break, and now the Kenyans had alot of work to do to try and turn around the tie.

The Kenyans did well to keep a lot of possession and gave it everything they had to stop the Australians, and Patrick Odongo had a great chance to restore parity when he found himself through towards the tryline, but was isolated and got tackled before he could do anything,  but he limped off as a result, with Lamec Ambesta coming on as his replacement.

Australia hit the nail in Kenya’s coffin when Corey Toole got the ball down the right and managed to step away from his marker before touching the ball down, with the inexperienced  Kenyans running out of gas, having tried in vain to break their defense.

In the end, Australia had enough to win the match 21-7. The Kenyans are now third of Pool B ahead of their last match against Samoa.

Kenya must now beat Samoa in their final Pool match on Thursday from 3:00 PM to keep their quarter final chances alive as one of the best third-placed teams.
