The league decider against Stanbic Black Pirates handed Ogena the opportunity to set a new record, but winger Karim Arinaitwe scored the only try Kobs got on the day.
Kobs back-rower Pius Ogena scored 22 tries in the first 17 games of the season to go level with teammate Justin Kimono and club legend Allan Musoke on the all-time scorers' list.

But Ogena's 22 were enough to make him the Nile Special Rugby Premier League top try scorer of the season despite failing to help Kobs to the title.

RUGBY Ogena ready to go again next season after failing to break 22 try record
The Kobs' loose forward was one try away from breaking club legend Allan Musoke and teammate Justine Kimono's record of 22 tries scored in a season but fell short.
Whereas Kimono and Musoke scored the 22 tries as wingers, Ogena has had to do it from the back row and will undoubtedly be in the conversation for Player of the Year.
The second spot on the try-scoring charts is another back-rower, veteran Scot Oluoch, whose 13 tries for Platinum Credit Heathens failed to inspire the team to a successful title defence.
The veteran showed he is still a force to reckon with and dominated collisions as Heathens tried to keep the title Kyadondo.
Oluoch's teammate Lawrence Sebuliba is in third place with 12 tries.
The winger showed he still has the pace and power to take on anyone on the wing.
He showed some opponents a pair of heels but also ran over and through those who tried to stop him.
Jinja Hippos centre Tawfik Bagalana (12) and Pirates' Sydney Gongodyo (10) complete the top five.
Gongodyo had to switch from the second row to the back row throughout the season, but regardless of where he played, he put up a commendable performance and was vital in Pirates' title charge.
