Kenya Sevens players will have their work cut out when they begin Olympics medal hunt with matches against top ranked Argentina and Australia on Wednesday.
Kenya Sevens are set to begin their Paris Olympics campaign as they face Argentina in their opening match on Wednesday.
The rugby sevens programme will start two days before the Olympics opening ceremony and Shujaa cannot afford a bad start.
The Argentines will offer Kenya a major test given they topped the standings in last season’s World Sevens Series and given Kevin Wambua’s men played in the second tier Challenger Series in 2024, they will have to up their game.

Shujaa first Kenyan team to check into Olympics Village with sevens rugby set to kick off early
Kenya Sevens have already arrived into the Olympics Village ahead of rugby action that will start two days before the Paris Games' Opening Ceremony.
Kenya and Argentina meetings have ended in favour of the South Americans in recent years but that will have to change on Wednesday if Shujaa have to avoid an early elimination.
A good result against the South Americans will be a confidence booster ahead of their second group game against Australia, another top team in the World Series.
The Australians finished fourth in the World Series, meaning Shujaa’s work is cut out. Kenya will then end group stage action against Samoa on Thursday.

Shujaa hotshot Wekesa details dogfight in Kenya 7s camp for Olympics selection
Wekesa, now an established member of the Kenya 7s set up, has revealed how difficult making the final squad for the Olympic games was.
Kenya have failed to go past the group stage at the last two Olympics Games and would not want to be out of medal contention even before the opening ceremony.
Shujaa were the first to arrive at the Olympics Village last weekend with Wambua having named a strong squad composed of players who secured Olympics qualification and a return to the World Series.
Co-captains Vincent Onyala and Tony Omondi will still lead the team with John Okoth, Kevin Wekesa, George Ooro, Samuel Asati, Nigel Amaitsa, Brian Tanga, Patrick Odongo, Lamech Ambetsa, Chrisant Ojwang and Herman Humwa joining them in the squad. Festus Shiasi and Dennis Abukuse are the travelling reserves.
