RUGBY Squad of 28 named as Team Kenya gears up for upcoming World Rugby U20 Trophy

Laban Kipsang and Eddy Wambugu are among the returnees to the Chipu squad.

Laban Kipsang and Eddy Wambugu will lead Team Kenya Under-20 squad that will be in action at the World Rugby U20 Trophy from July 15 to 30 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

During the squad naming on Wednesday morning, Head Coach Curtis Olago announced that Kipsang of Kenya Harlequins will maintain his position as a lock as Wambugu of Daystar Falcons will be playing as a fly half.

Kipsang will be joined by Andycole Omol of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in the lock position as Alvin Kalori of Kisumu will be playing as a winger.

Brian Makaya of Mean Machine (prop) and the Strathmore Leos duo of Dennis Kisingu (prop) and Brian Mwendwa (scrum half) have also made it to the squad.

Chacha Masega of Mwamba RFC will man the centre position as Fran Juma of Kenya Harlequins takes the full back position.

George Otieno of Shammas (hooker), Geylord Ngasi of Daystar Falcons (prop), Iddo Kuta of Quins (flanker), and Jacktone Omondi of Kabras Sugar (flanker) will also be in action.

Others who have received the call-up are James Asanga of Menengai Oilers (eighth man), James Olela of Kabras Sugar (full-back), Jeremy Odhiambo of CUEA (hooker), Mike Oduor of Daystar Falcons (hooker) and Mike Wamalwa of KCB (centre).

Nathan Tsindoli of Daystar Falcons comes in as a flanker, Patrick Wainaina and Vincent Ochieng of Kenya Harlequins take the scrum half and eighth man. The Strathmore Leos duo of Raphael Wanga (winger) and Raymond Chacha (prop) are also in the mix.

Spencer Davis of Bryanston School comes in as a fly Half while the duo of Stanslaus Shikoli and Victor Odhiambo, both of Strathmore Leos, will take the lock and winger mantles respectively.

Wickliffe Ogutu of Daystar Falcons (prop) and Zephenes Obwanga of CUEA (scrum half) sum up the squad.

The squad will be under the tutelage of head coach Olago who will be assisted by Richmond Barasa, Brian Ojema, and Motto William. Samuel Ochieng will be the team’s physiotherapist as Peter Mutai takes the team manager's position.
