Walukuba Barbarians will host the final leg of the Nile Special Rugby Sevens at Bugembe from September 2-3.

Walukuba Barbarians head coach Leonard Lubambula has said that his team had laid a strategy to do well in the Nile Special Mileke Rugby Sevens in preparations for their Kyabazing leg.

The boys from Jinja stunned top sides to sneak away with the trophy at the Elgon View Grounds in Tororo over the weekend.

Before their final with Pirates, a video of their team captain Bob Kawanda went viral as he sent a warning about their intentions.

That was evident in the match as Pirates played catch-up throughout the game before Guft Wokorach sealed their fate.

Lubambula confidently says that his team played to the script as they prepare for the September 2nd and 3rd grand finale.

“We set short targets for ourselves in every game, and I think we achieved most of them,” Lubambula says.

Walukuba received early goodies in the tournament as the organisers overturned their 33-7 loss to Kobs and awarded them a walkover after the latter was found guilty of using an ineligible player.

“The wins on the first day was a motivator that set the platform for the boys to do better on Sunday. We needed a lot of energy in this one so that we go into the Kyabazinga sevens on a high,” he revealed their motivation.
