Shujaa head coach Kevin 'Bling' Wambua has revealed what his charges must do to win the quarter-finals of the Challenger Series despite losing to Germany 24-12 in their final Pool C clash.

Both teams had already qualified for the cup quarter-finals, after winning their opening two games, the contest was to determine who finished top in Group C and the Germans looked the hungrier side.

Shujaa will play Japan with their aim being to finish in the top four places by the end of the tournament on Sunday 14th January.

Speaking after the match, Wambua berated his charges for making defensive mistakes that cost them the match.

"A disappointing performance from us,” Wambua said.

“I think we played off-script the whole game, We did not stick to what worked for us, got a bit overconfident and we paid the price.

“It is the nature of the game, good thing is that we are still in the quarterfinals and it is good that we get this test before the knockouts and I am pretty sure the boys will just recover and we will get our systems firing again.

“For us, we did not take care of our positioning well and it cost us. We were a bit slow and a bit lazy on our defensive shape.”

Wambua has revealed what his charges must do in the next game in order to stand a chance of making the semis.

“We need to do better in our next game. We know right now if you lose a game you are out of contention and we had an aim of getting top four so we just need to make sure we are more composed on the ball and have a better defensive structure so that we win our quarters and get top four for the first tournament.”
