Flamingos: Nigeria's U-17 to face Dominican Republic, Ecuador at New Zealand World Cup
Nigeria's U-17 team known as the Flamingos to face Dominican Republic, Ecuador and New Zealand in Group A of Women's World Cup.
The bronze medallists from the last tournament in India, led by the clinical Chidi, scored 13 of a team's record-breaking 25 goals in the qualification series as they surged past the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, and Liberia in the continental campaign.
The midfield will be led by Afolabi, along with Faridat Abdulwahab, Shakirat Moshood, and Ayomide Rotimi.
Christiana Uzoma, the starting goalkeeper, will be constantly challenged by Sylvia Echefu and Elizabeth Boniface to perform at her highest level.
Harmony Chidi leads six other forwards, including Peace Effiong, while Taiwo Adegoke leads six other defenders.
Ecuador, New Zealand, and the host nation, the Dominican Republic, will battle with Nigeria in Group A of the tournament.
On Tuesday, October 1, a Turkish Airlines flight will take the Flamingo delegation out of Nigeria for a two-week training tour in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic, prior to the start of the tournament.
