Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has become a trending topic on social media after a video surfaced showing him in a heated confrontation with a Ghanaian politician. .
The 38-year-old football legend appeared visibly agitated, seemingly ready to strike someone before being restrained by a third party.
The incident, which has since gone viral, is rumoured to involve a dispute over a $3 million payment allegedly owed to Gyan by the Bawumia campaign, sparking further controversy.
Sources also suggest the altercation was directed at Sammy Awuku’s in-law, following allegations of financial mismanagement within the campaign team.
The timing of this incident comes just two days after Gyan nnounced his decision to step away from political involvement to focus on humanitarian efforts.
He recently resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that his political engagement was not fair to Ghana's youth.
Gyan made the announcement via his social media pages, explaining his desire to empower young Ghanaians through his foundation instead of engaging in partisan politics.

Gyan's political journey, though brief, was notable.
Earlier this year, the former Sunderland forward known to be one of the richest African footballers, was appointed chairman of the Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee for the Bawumia presidential campaign and was an active participant in campaign activities, including a walk in Akropong.
However, in his resignation statement, Gyan expressed regret over his political affiliation, citing a commitment to humanitarian work as his reason for stepping down.
The African football legend remains a celebrated figure in Ghana for his record-breaking achievements, including becoming the country's all-time leading goal-scorer with 51 goals and holding the title of the top African goal-scorer in World Cup history.
During his playing career, Gyan endured stints in England, Italy, France, Turkey, Dubai, China, amongst others.
He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
With six goals, Gyan is currently the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.
Gyan also represented Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics and in seven Africa Cup of Nations (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019), helping them finish in third place in 2008 and as runners-up in 2010 and 2015.
