Jenna Nighswonger in the ninth minute converted a penalty kick off the right post and across the goal line to put Gotham FC ahead.

Racheal Kundananji got the ball in the eighteenth minute for Bay FC close to the left sideline.
She then made a daring run down the field, cut back into the middle, and fed Asisat Oshoala a wonderfully weighted through pass who curled into the right corner of the goal.
Bay FC and the defending NWSL Champions were level 1-1 at the half.
However, in the second half, NJ/NY Gotham FC outscored Bay FC by 3 goals in 4 minutes to take a 5-1 victory at Red Bull Arena.
After working their way down the right side of the field, Gotham FC found Rose Lavelle, who scored with a header at the back post, in the 70th minute to go ahead.
Esther González found space at the edge of the six-yard box in the 72nd minute and headed the ball into the net for Gotham FC's third.

Yazmeen Ryan broke free down the right side of the box in the 74th minute, delivered a cross to the back post, and found her partner Esther, who finished with a tap-in at the goal line.
Rose Lavelle gained space in the box in the 84th minute, but the ball fell at Cece Kizer's feet, who finished into an open net to seal the result.
With three games left in the NWSL regular season, Bay FC will end Week 22 of the regular season above the playoff line and in the eighth and final playoff berth.
