Super Eagles treated by Lagos State Government
The Lagos State Government hosted a special dinner for the Super Eagles with Governor Olusola Sanwo-Olu serving as the chief host.
Governors Douye Diri (Bayelsa State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa State), and Godwin Obaseki (Edo State) were also invited to the glamorous event, which was co-hosted by Senator John Owan Enoh, Minister of Sports Development.
The event was hosted by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Sanwo-Olu charges Super Eagles ahead of AFCON
Sanwo-Olu explained the importance of the AFCON for Nigerians to the Super Eagles.
A statement by Sanw-Olu on social media to the Super Eagles said, "It was an honour to host the Super Eagles this evening at the Lagos State/NFF Send Forth event as they gear up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
"My prayers are with our team for strength, resilience and unity on this journey.
"To the Super Eagles: You carry the hopes of a nation on your shoulders.
"As you represent us at the #AFCON2023 , may you play with passion, unity, and determination. Make Nigeria proud and bring the cup home.
"Let's soar, Super Eagles!."
The 34th Africa Cup of Nations squad from Nigeria will take off from Lagos on Wednesday morning for an 80-minute trip to Abidjan.
At the AFCON they will play against the host nation, Cote d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea Bissau in Group A.
