Chido Obi: Nigerian-born star signs with Manchester United, to battle Rasmus Højlund
Nigerian-born star Chido Obi will battle Rasmus Højlund for the starting striker role after dumping Arsenal for Manchester United.
Before James Scanlon and Dante Plunkett secured the points in the closing minutes, the Danish youth international gave United the lead with 71 minutes remaining by converting a penalty.
Obi-Martin, who has already scored in both of his previous Under-18 matches, sent the goalie reeling from a penalty kick.
Obi-Martin, who turned 17 on Friday, was permitted to sign his first professional contract at Old Trafford.
After joining United from Arsenal in the summer, the striker signed a scholarship with the understanding that his professional contract would start when he turned 17.
Shortly after putting United ahead, the striker was taken off the field and Victor Musa took his place with 76 minutes remaining.
In addition to scoring 46 goals and keeping four straight clean sheets, the U18s have already won all ten of their league games this season.
The goal by Obi-Martin means that he is now the all-time top scorer in the under-18 Premier League.
He now has 37 goals ahead of Ellis Simms who held the record with 36.
Obi-Martin represents Denmark at youth level but is still eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
