Nigeria's women's Under 20 team known as the Falconets are set to return to the pitch.

Danjuma picked a few of his World Cup quarter-finalists from Costa Rica last year, and an impressive number from the Flamingos squad that won the bronze medals at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India a year ago.

For the 2024 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup qualifying match against the U20 girls of Tanzania next month, head coach Christopher Musa Danjuma has selected 30 Falconets.

Some of the players invited include goalkeepers Faith Omilana and Linda Jiwuaku, defenders Jumoke Alani and Tumininu Adeshina, midfielders Taiwo Afolabi, Chinyere Kalu, and Chidera Okenwa, and forwards Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, Yina Adoo, and Opeyemi Ajakaye.

After Mauritius pulled out of the second-round match against Nigeria the Falconets received a bye to advance to the third round.

There, they will play Tanzania in two legs: the first leg will take place away in Dar es Salaam between November 10 and November 12, and the second leg will take place in Abuja between November 17 and November 19.

On Sunday, October 22, the invited players are instructed to go to the Chida Hotel in Utako, Abuja.

The FIFA U20 Women's World Cup final competition will take place in Colombia next year, with 24 finalists instead of the 16 that competed in Costa Rica.

It has also raised the number of African flag bearers to four.

This indicates that the Falconets will have one more round to go following their match against Tanzania in order to qualify for the big house party in Colombia in September 2024.
