A young man has been arrested and charged with burglary and two other property damage offences on Michael Jordan's Illinois mansion.
Amid the promotion of the new film ‘Air’, NBA legend Michael Jordan now deals with a burglary incident on one of his multi-million dollar properties.
Reports on Friday, April 7, revealed that the 60-year-old former Chicagu Bulls star received a call from his neighbours alerting the police of a trespasser in his $15 million mansion in Illinois.
The house which the billionaire has currently put up for sale was reported to have been burgled this week.
According to reports, neighbours alerted security agents that there was someone in the home in the 2700 block of Point Lane, around 16:00 p.m., via Lake & McHenry County Scanner.
The accused was an 18-year-old named Raiden Hagedorn who now faces several charges, including criminal damage to property.
The young man was arrested just at the moment in which the Highland Park Police Department responded.
Raiden is now accused of breaking and entering Michael Jordan’s home as well as two other crimes of damage to property, all of them though minors.
Fortunately, Michael Jordan was not in the house at the time of the incident.
The billionaire basketball legend who is one of the richest sportsmen in the world has not lived in the mansion since he put it up for sale back in 2012.
The house is still yet to be sold despite the fact that the sale price was reduced from $29 million dollars to almost $15 million.
Michael Jordan’s incredible mansion in Illinois
Michael Jordan’s Illinois mansion was built in 1995.
The contemporary-style mansion has 15 full bathrooms, 4 half bathrooms, a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, a circular infinity pool and a cigar room.
The property has 56,000 square feet of living space in total, including the basement and the garage with space for 15 cars, while outside on the grounds are a tennis court and a putting green.
Jordan first listed the mansion at the start of March 2012 for $29 million, and then cut his asking price in early 2013 to $21 million.
The NBA legend later reduced his asking price further to $16 million at the end of 2013.
However, a late 2013 auction was not a success, as buyers who were finally willing to pay at least the $13 million reserve price for the estate failed to materialize.
Finally, in May 2015, he made his final price cut — to $14.855 million.
As per Chicago Tribune, he chose that asking price because the digits add up to his playing-career uniform number of 23.
Today, Michael Jordan who has a net worth of $2 billion owns an 11-bedroom, 28,000-square-foot, $12.4 million mansion on 3 acres in Jupiter, Fla.
In 2010, he was said to have paid $3.14 million for the two top-floor penthouses in a condominium in downtown Charlotte, N.C., just two blocks from the arena where the NBA team he owns, the Hornets, plays.
Jordan also owns a six-bedroom, 12,310-square-foot mansion in Cornelius, N.C., which he purchased in 2013 for $2.8 million.
