Uganda Boxing Federation patron Mike Mikula is gearing up to extend his warm hospitality to the esteemed national boxing team, The Bombers, as they gather at his lavish residence in Bugolobi, Kampala, August 8.

Comprising eleven men and six women, the boxing team represented Uganda on the grand stage of the 2023 Africa Elite Men's and Women's Championships held in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Among the standout performances that contributed to Uganda's medal success were; Wasswa Ssali, who showcased remarkable skill in the lightweight category, and Erina Namutebi, a force to be reckoned with in the welterweight division, both securing coveted silver medals.

The distinguished list of bronze medalists includes Ukasha Matovu, displaying his prowess in the welterweight division, along with Ronald Okello, whose lightning-fast movements impressed in the lightweight category.

Solomon Geko in the heavyweight division, along with the exceptional achievements of Grace Nankinga and the women's team captain, Emily Nakalema.

The results of their efforts brought Uganda an impressive haul of seven medals: a commendable collection of five bronze medals and two silver medals.

Following the elegant soirée, the festivities will, August 9, shift to Bwaise, a vibrant Kampala suburb known for nurturing boxing talent through its diverse array of boxing clubs, setting the stage for a continuation of the celebratory atmosphere.
