The Black Stars of Ghana's chances of making it to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) were severely damaged after a 0-2 defeat by Sudan.

In the second leg, which took place at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya on Tuesday, October 15, the four-time African champions squared off against the Falcons of Sudan.

The Black Stars were all smiles on their way to Libya but suffered a devastating defeat.

Ghana had a dismal qualifying campaign, recording two draws and a loss, and went into the game in need of a victory to maintain their hopes of qualifying.

Inaki Williams put the Black Stars ahead in the second half, showing greater tenacity, but the goal was canceled for a handball.

But Sudan persisted in carrying out their strategy, effectively countering and defending deep.

Their determination paid off in the 62nd minute when Mahmoud Mohamed scored the first goal by taking advantage of a defensive blunder by Salisu.

Nigerians mock Ghana after loss to Sudan

The Super Eagles are now back in Nigeria and will not play the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their matchday four qualifiers this international break.

Nigerians however were online to troll the Ghanaians following their unexpected loss to Sudan that may cost them a spot at the next AFCON.

This is not the first time Nigerians will mock Ghana as they did so after the Black Stars lost to Angola.

Ghana now sits in third position in their group after the loss, having only two points from four games.

The Black Stars need to win their remaining games in November against Niger and Angola in order to qualify for AFCON 2025, which will be held in Morocco.

They also need to hope that Sudan loses points in their next games.
