The former Barcelona star is currently in jail, having been accused of sexually abusing a young woman in a city disco.
Almost 10 days after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at the Sutton nightclub on December 30, life for Dani Alves changed drastically.
The veteran Brazilian full-back is now in prison with investigation still ongoing about his involvement in the case.
The 39-year-old Brazil international is currently detained in the Brians 2 penitentiary located in Barcelona, and is going through one of the worst periods in his life.
While waiting for his defense to file an appeal to reverse the preventive detention order agreed on Friday by the judge "for an open case for the crime of sexual assault" as requested by the Prosecutor's Office, new details of the defender's stay in the prison have now been brought to light.
Dani Alves already played first football match in prison
According to a report, Alves played his first soccer match in prison last Thursday.
"Officials, external professionals, management personnel and all the inmates of the neighboring module appeared discreetly, who stuck to the glass so as not to lose detail," reported La Vanguardia via Marca about the former PSG and Juventus defender.
The newspaper indicated that the directors of the prison in Sant Esteve Sesrovires where the Brazilian resides made the decision to place a cloth that prevents the vision between the two modules - in which Alves is located and the adjoining one - so that the neighbors of the footballer recover their "normality" and in this way they can return to their activities.
But beyond the internal and external sources consulted by the Spanish media, it also makes it clear that no interlocutor can give the slightest detail about the imprisoned Dani Alves, since those responsible for penitentiary institutions warned that any leak would face heavy sanctions.
After playing football with other inmates, it was also reported that Alves met with his new lawyers Cristóbal Martell and Arnau Xumetra.
The newspaper says that the first meeting served as a presentation in which Alves was also presented with the arguments of the appeal.
In that meeting, the former Juventus star did not ask his lawyer if there was any chance of getting provisional freedom.
Alves also reportedly re-iterated to Martell that he had no intention of absconding.
Dani Alves' decision on family visits in Prison
In addition to guidelines on his defense, the Brazilian footballer reportedly made clear with his new lawyer his position on receiving relatives while detained.
At the moment, Dani Alves does not want to receive a visit from his parents, especially Lucia, his mother, who is staying in a hotel in the Catalan capital.
Alves has no desire for his mother to see him in prison, since he "claims to feel ashamed" that the person who gave him life visits him in prison.
It is important to remember that Alves was admitted to a module where there are denounced for crimes of a sexual nature and whose sentences have not yet been issued.
Interestingly, his cellmate is also a Brazilian nicknamed ‘Coutinho; - although not his former teammate of the Brazilian national team.
Coutinho, for a time, served as private security of former Brazil and Barcelona player Ronaldinho.
