The 30-year-old Onumonu has been on fire since she moved from the American NWSL to the French League.
Onomonu on target
Onumonu was named in the starting lineup by head coach Yannick Chandioux as Montpellier HSC traveled to face St Etienne in a matchday nine fixture.
Lola Gstalter put Montpellier HSC ahead as early as the second minute of the game.
In the 42nd minute, Onumonu scored the second for Montpellier HSC assisted by 19-year-old Gstalter.
There were no goals in the second half as both teams were compact in defense.

Onumonu received a yellow card in the 76th minute and substituted for Malawi's Rose Kadzere in the 87th minute.
The goal means that Onumonu has now scored in four straight games for Montpellier HSC.
Onumonu returns to action when Montpellier HSC takes on Dijon in their next fixture after the international friendly break between Nigeria and France.
