Super Falcons of Nigeria midfielder Deborah Abiodun has committed to a professional contract with the Washington Spirit that will last until 2027, forgoing her last two years of NCAA eligibility.

In addition to being a standout player for the Nigerian women's national team, Abiodun has played for the University of Pittsburgh for the past two seasons.
Deborah Abiodun joins Washington Spirit
Former Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum expressed his happiness for Abiodun and his pride at having contributed in any way to her accomplishment.
Abiodun started 28 of 34 games for the Panthers after being recruited by Randy Waldrum, who also coached her for the Nigerian women's national team.
Abiodun was a standout player in the NCAA, tallying 10 goals and dishing out three assists.
Alongside Sarah Schupanky, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region in 2024 and joined Schupanky on the ACC All-ACC roster.
Abiodun was praised as a highly recruited talent and won a position on the Third Team.
She played for Nigeria in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup before joining the Panthers.
She participated in the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024 with the Super Falcons.
