And Uganda's Parliament believes the same phenomenon can be applied in the country, but with English Premier League record champions Manchester United, who boast a bigger global following.

As the case is with Rwanda and English Premier League giants Arsenal and France's Paris Saint Germain (PSG), the Ugandan Parliament has advised government to advertise Uganda with Manchester United.

"Visit Rwanda" appears on Arsenal and French powerhouse PSG sleeves, a move that the Rwandan government initiated to boost their tourism.

And Uganda's Parliament believes the same phenomenon can be applied in the country, but with English Premier League record champions Manchester United, who boast a bigger global following.

"Kabweri County MP, Hon. David Mugole reiterated Hon. Susan Amero's call for the government through Uganda Tourism Board to engage Manchester United on advertising in the stadium and on football shirts," a quote on the Parliament of Uganda official X handle disclosed on Thursday.

"Tourism is the engine of this country. We need need to look at this better in future. It is better than this oil we are running for.

Small countries are doing well because they are attracting and investing in tourism," deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who handled the Thursday afternoon session said.

Kasambya County MP, Daudi Kabanda reiterater the call: "Let us put more money in this sector because tourism alone can sustain the economy of this country."

According to The East African, Rwanda's partnership with Rwanda and PSG generated USD160 million in 2022 in media value.

In turn, it helped generate USD445 million in tourism revenues, thanks to the over a million visitors to Rwanda that year.
