In the newly released photos of Nakivubo Stadium, banners featuring pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have caught the eyes of tweeps.
City businessman Hamis Kiggundu better known as Ham, oversees the stadium's redevelopment works in a private-public partnership to redevelop the Nakivubo estate, which has since seen the shopping mall construction around the facility.
Ham took charge of the development of the Nakivubo estate in 2015, and passionate football fans have since longed for the stadium's completion.
In the latest images, there has been progress in the construction works as seats have been installed.
However, the random choice of images on the banners erected above the sitting area is receiving mixed reactions.
While some of the images feature local stars like Olympic champion Stephen Kiprotich and World champion Joshua Cheptegei, some tweeps pointed out the significance of having Messi and Ronaldo's banners at the stadium.
"You can't be worshipping European football like this!! Nakivubo Has her own History! You can't be worshipping European football like this!! @dexterdj__Ug tweeted.
"A historical stadium like Nakivubo decorating the stadium with photos of European footballers. What happened to all the History created on that pitch? We need to get serious as the country for once. We can't be effeminate in nature all the time," @patrickakuku stated.
“Nakivubo 'Hamz' Stadium.Don't ask me why there are photos of Lionel Messi," @BrianKawalya tweeted.
"Instead of Roofing Nakivubo Stadium as it was supposed to be according to the Architectural plan, Ham Kiggundu is filling it with Banners having photos of his Houses & Logos all over as a completion," @Sammie Manini.
"Does Basketball and these houses of Hamis Kigundu represent anything football? Why was it posted all over Nakivubo stadium?@partell_sports.
