Nigeria, being a Table Tennis powerhouse in Africa, head into the 2024 Paris Olympics with four medal hopefuls.

African Table tennis star, Quadri Aruna will be leading team Nigeria to the ping pong event at the Olympics.

The Olympics will begin in Paris, the capital city of France, as the draws take place on July 24th, 2024.

Going into the Olympics, Nigeria is one of the key contenders in Table Tennis in Africa. Here are four Players who are medal hopefuls for the country:

1. Quadri Aruna set to break his record

Quadri Aruna will be hoping to break his record of being the only African to reach the last eight of the men’s singles in 2016.

The 35-year-old earned a prestigious seeding in the men's singles event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, according to the International Table Tennis Federation.

The world number 19 will start his campaign in the second round as the 14th seed.

He has competed in three Olympics, and Paris will be his fourth appearance at the showpiece. He featured in the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics, and 2020 Summer Olympics, reaching the quarter-finals in 2016.

With the Oyo-born star leading Nigeria to the Olympics in Paris, Nigeria might shock the world and pick a medal at the Table Tennis event.

2. Olajide Omotayo

Nigeria's Olajide Omotayo is another talent that might grab a medal for the country.

He made his debut at the Tokyo Olympics and qualified for the Men's Singles Table Tennis event in Paris.

However, he was eliminated in the first round, losing to Tiago Apolónia in straight sets, and will be looking to go beyond the first round in Paris.
