Olajide Omotayo and Edem Offiong will fly the Green and White colours of Nigeria when the Olympic games kicks off in July.
Table tennis legend Olufunke Oshonaike has applauded Olajide Omotayo and Edem Offiong for securing their spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Omotayo, the 2019 African Games champion, achieved the feat at the qualifying tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Olympics in Paris will be Omotayo's 2nd appearance; he was dominant in a 4-0 win over Congo-Brazzaville Saheed Idowu in the semis.

For Edem Offiong, she defeated Tunisia's Fadwa Garci 4-2 in Kigali to book a spot at the olympics.
Offiong will be participating at the Olympics for the fifth time when the games serve off in July.

Oshonaike hails Nigerian duo for Olympic Qualification
Oshonaike, the record holder for most Olympic appearances by a female African table tennis player (seven), shared a statement titled "Paris 2024, here we come" alongside a video of Omotayo dominating his opponent.
The video clearly captured the young champion's celebratory spirit after securing his Olympic berth.
“I know he wanted it so badly; he has been very hungry for it! We were so close together in the mixed doubles last year after getting the ticket, but I guess it was not meant to be. He really gave me lots of encouragement, and I love him more for that. Please, friends and family, join me in congratulating and thanking God for my son, Olajide Omotayo, for qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics. I am overwhelmed with joy. Congratulations to Edem Offiong too for qualifying for Paris 2024,” Oshonaike wrote.
Omotayo is currently ranked 144 in the International Table Tennis Federation’s Men’s Singles World Ranking.
