Russian table tennis league champion Fakel-Gazprom Orenburg has unveiled the African table tennis champion at a colorful occasion in Moscow.
The Nigerian had undergone medical before the unveiling in Moscow.
GPB is a privately owned Russian bank and the third largest bank in Russia that funds the club. After the signing of the agreement, Aruna will be unveiled to the fans later today in Moscow.
Aruna joined the 10-time Russian champion early this year from Bundesliga side TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell for the remaining part of the 2022-2023 season.
I am ready to conquer Russia - Aruna
Aruna has confirmed that he is in Russia to conquer the league, saying the reception received by the club management would surely inspire him to give his best in the league.
“I am really impressed with what I have witnessed since my arrival on Saturday because the organization was top notch, and I can wait to start playing for the club. There is no doubt that I will be playing in one of the best leagues in Europe with a top club as well. I am so excited, and I am indeed looking forward to my first match for the club this weekend,” Aruna said.
Aruna starts 2023 on a poor form
The Nigerian has not been too good in 2023, he was earlier knocked out of WTT Contender in Durban in the Quarterfinal.
Ukraine’s Yaroslav Zhmudenko beat Aruna in three sets game in the quarter-final 3-0 (11-8,11-7, 11-3) to knock him out WTT Contender in Durban, South Africa.
His first game in Qatar in the year see him bowing out of the WTT Contender in Doha.
Meanwhile, Aruna ranked the best in Africa following the release of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) ranking, where he was rated 14th in the World.
