Having played tennis since he was four at the Rio de Janeiro Country Club, Fonseca’s junior career culminated in the prestigious world No. 1 junior ranking. 

His junior achievements include a noteworthy victory at the 2023 US Open boys' singles tournament, a testament to his talent.

Fonseca's playing style is characterised by his powerful groundstrokes, particularly his forehand, which he can deploy with considerable pace and spin.
