Nigeria has failed to win any medal as the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics draws near.

With Nigeria not able to win a medal at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics, plans have already begun to unearth talents at the Junior tennis championship in Lagos.

The Junior tennis championship is organised by the Adewale Isa Foundation. The event kicks off on Tuesday, 13 August and ends on Saturday, 17 August 2024, inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Surulere.

Olayinka Adigun revealed that the tournament has helped to discover talents who have made the country proud in the past.

"Several champions produced by this tournament have gone ahead to break even on the national and international stages, and we are grateful to have given them the platform to hone their skills and become top-class in every sense of it.

"The likes of Chukwudubem Amasiani (who is now the number one U-14 Junior in West Africa and 8th in Africa), Khadijat Mohammed (who went ahead to win a national tournament), Mubarak Ganiyu (former top African junior), have won this tournament in the past and have shown brilliance in their tennis development," the foundation said.

The fifth edition of the Adewale Isa Foundation (AIF) Junior Tennis Championship will see players participating in U-12, U-14 and U-16 categories.

Meanwhile, Pulse Sports reported that Nigeria is yet to win any medals as the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics draws near; the games will end on Sunday, August 11th.
