Pipeline will face DCI on Sunday 26 February.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) ladies' volleyball team head coach Daniel Bor has said the team needs to work on their blocks as they brace themselves to face champions Kenya Pipeline Company on Sunday, February 26.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) ladies league kicked off on Saturday, February 25 just weeks after the previous season concluded with Pipeline edging arch-rivals KCB in the final.
Bor revealed that the Oilers usually bank on a combination of attacks to display great results and if they have to stop them, they need to ensure their blocks work very well.
"They are a great opponent and we have to be tactical if we're to do well in the match. From tomorrow, we want to post effective services too," Bor said.
Kenya Pipeline emerged as the 2022/2023 KVF national league champions after successfully defeating African Champions Kenya Commercial Bank 3-1 in sets of 18-25, 25-22, 25-19, and 26-24.
Bor attested that KCB also comes as a threat to them considering his team mainly comprises of young players.
"There is just some type of intimidation but we shall not focus on that," he said.
In their opening match, DCI thrashed Nairobi Water to secure a deserved 3-0 win in straight sets of 25-21, 25-18, and 24-17.
The tactician noted that their poor attacks need to be addressed despite displaying a good show in the massive victory.
He added that the services and reception worked well for them. He also noted the blocks and backcourt defense were key in helping them secure victory.
